What is Music Therapy?
MUSIC THERAPY

Music therapy is an allied health profession in which music is used in a therapeutic relationship to address physical, social, cognitive, and psychological needs of the client.  Music is used in many ways.  This may include listening, creating, singing or moving.  All types of instruments and music are utilized.

Because the techniques used by a music therapist are so non-evasive and non-threatening, a client may be more willing to open up and express themselves, either non-verbally or verbally.  Many times a non-verbal experience will evoke a meaningful verbal process.  Music is the tool that helps clients reach deep within themselves and work through events or issues in their lives.
