Relief Houseparents Sign-on Bonus!

If you believe today’s children are tomorrow’s future, this may be the opportunity you’ve been looking for. We are seeking couples to be Houseparents. The Houseparent position is both challenging and rewarding as we help our residents achieve their dreams of a brighter future through the use of structured programming and clinical support. Houseparents are responsible for providing compassion, discipline and daily supervision to the children of Bethany Home.

Bethany is seeking couples to be Relief Houseparents in a cottage working with teenage boys or girls. Houseparents work 10- to 12-hour days, for 7 days with 3 or 4 days off in between shifts, and enjoy an excellent benefits package including:

  • Furnished, private on-campus apartment: all utilities, household items and meals provided while on duty;
  • Unfurnished, private off-campus apartment: all utilities, including basic cable, are provided. Pets negotiable.

In addition to the minimum requirements described above, candidates should be mature, responsible individuals with a sense of mission to help children in need. We are offering a sign-on bonus of $5,000 to couples and an additional longevity bonus of $10,000 per couple after three (3) years of successful employment.

Weekend Relief Houseparents Sign-on Bonus!

Flex Houseparents   Sign-on Bonus!

Bethany Children’s Home, a Berks County nonprofit agency, provides residential services to dependent and delinquent youth between the ages of 10 and 20 on our campus in Womelsdorf, Pennsylvania. We offer emergency shelter, short-term, residential, independent living and supervised independent living programs to families and youth in need of placement. Bethany has used the Houseparent model in its residential and independent living programs for over 153 years to provide a temporary home to children and youth who are unable to live with their own or a substitute family.

Bethany is looking for Flex Houseparents as a couple or an individual. The Houseparent position is both challenging and rewarding. Flex Houseparents will be guaranteed a minimum of 40 hours per week and serve as needed to provide assistance for vacation, illness, etc. Houseparents provide parental support in a boys or girls cottage by providing compassion, discipline and structure in a safe, home-like environment.

In addition to the minimum requirements described above, candidates should be mature, responsible individuals with a sense of mission to help children in need.

Furnished, private on-campus apartment: all utilities, household items and meals provided while on duty.  We are offering a sign-on bonus of $2500 and an additional longevity bonus of $5,000 after three (3) years of successful employment.

Cottage or Team Supervisor

Bethany Children’s Home, a Berks County nonprofit agency, provides services to youth between the ages of 10 and 20 on our residential campus in Womelsdorf. We offer emergency shelter, short-term, residential, independent living and supervised independent living programs to families and youth in need of placement. Bethany has used the Houseparent model for over 153 years to provide a temporary home to children and youth who are unable to live with their own or a substitute family.

Bethany has immediate openings for full-time Team Supervisors. The Team Supervisor is responsible for cottage operations and and mentors our cottage staff. Our cottage staff are responsible for providing guidance, supervision and compassion while assisting our youth with emotional and behavioral interventions in a variety of settings. The Team Supervisor works with the treatment team to help our youth achieve their goals.

The Team Supervisor is responsible for:

  • Trains and provides ongoing mentoring to Cottage Support Staff and Houseparents.
  • Seeks or provides coverage for shift call-offs.
  • Conducts team and individual supervisions in accordance with Clinician and Director.
  • Maintains accurate recordkeeping and submits timely approvals for staff benefit time and payroll records.
  • Ensures Cottage Support Staff and Houseparents are current on mandated and required trainings.

Candidates must be willing to work a flexible day and evening schedule with rotating weekends.

• Previous supervisory experience; AND

  • A Bachelor’s degree in the behavioral sciences, human services or social services fields; AND a minimum of one year of experience in child welfare, youth work, child care or related field; OR
  • An Associate’s degree in the behavioral sciences, human services or social services fields; AND a minimum of three years of experience in child welfare, youth work, child care or related field.

• Must be at least 21 years of age.

• Have excellent written and verbal communication skills.

• Have excellent computer skills.

• Needs valid Pennsylvania Driver’s License with a clean 3-year driving history.

• Must pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check.

• Must have health assessment certified by a physician no more than 30 days prior to commencing employment and renewed every two years.

• Must provide current PA Child Abuse, PA Criminal History and FBI Fingerprinting clearances within 30 days of commencing employment.

Cottage Support Staff

Bethany Children’s Home, a Berks County nonprofit agency, provides services to youth between the ages of 10 and 20 on our residential campus in Womelsdorf. We offer emergency shelter, short-term, residential, independent living and supervised independent living programs to families and youth in need of placement. Bethany has used the Houseparent model for over 153 years to provide a temporary home to children and youth who are unable to live with their own or a substitute family.

Bethany has immediate openings for full-time positions working directly with teenage male youth or a co-ed shelter population. Our Support Staff are responsible for providing therapeutic guidance, supervision and compassion while assisting our adolescents with emotional and behavioral interventions in a variety of settings. Support Staff work with the treatment team to help our youth achieve their treatment plan goals.

Full-time positions are available between the hours of 2:00 pm and 10:30 pm. Rotating weekend availability is required.

If you love working one-on-one with at-risk adolescents in a home-like environment, we would love to hear from you. Candidates must meet the following minimum requirements:

•Have at least a high school diploma or equivalent

•Be at least 21 years of age

•Preferably have at least one year of experience working with adolescents in placement as a behavioral support staff or similar role

Master’s Level Clinician

Bethany Children’s Home, a Berks County nonprofit agency, provides services to youth between the ages of 6 and 20 on our residential campus in Womelsdorf. We offer emergency shelter, short-term, residential, independent living and supervised independent living programs to families and youth in need of placement. Bethany has used the Houseparent model for over 150 years to provide a temporary home to children and youth who are unable to live with their own or a substitute family.

Bethany has an immediate opening for a master’s level Clinician to conduct assessments and provide weekly individual and group therapy for youth in care. As part of the clinical team, the Clinician acts as the liaison between youth and placement family, child advocates, and community services.

If you have a passion for helping children in need we would love to hear from you. Candidates must be willing to work a flexible schedule with some evenings and meet the following minimum requirements:

•A Master’s degree in social work (MSW) or related human services field and two years of postgraduate direct service delivery experience.

•Excellent computer skills, including ability to learn proprietary software programs.

•Needs valid Pennsylvania Driver’s License.

•Must pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check.

•Must have health assessment certified by a physician no more than 30 days prior to commencing employment and renewed every two years.

Registered Nurse (RN)

Bethany Children’s Home, a Berks County nonprofit agency, provides services to youth between the ages of 10 and 20 on our residential campus in Womelsdorf. We offer emergency shelter, short-term, residential, independent living and supervised independent living programs to families and youth in need of placement. Bethany has used the Houseparent model for over 153 years to provide a temporary home to children and youth who are unable to live with their own or a substitute family.

Bethany is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Registered Nurse to assist in the day-to-day operations of a busy health clinic. A full-time or part-time position is needed that will offer a combination of clinic work, school nursing and case management within a residential facility. Candidates should be available to work every other weekend. Previous pediatric or behavioral health experience is preferred, and excellent communication skills are a must.

Desktop Support Technician

Bethany is seeking a full-time, entry level Desktop Support Technician to assist in the implementation and maintenance of Bethany’s electronic records management system and to handle ongoing help desk requests.

If you have a passion for helping children in need, and meet the minimum requirements below, we would love to hear from you.

  • Has a minimum of an associate’s degree in Information Technology plus one year of experience with help desk. Relevant work experience may be considered in lieu of degree.
  • Requires superior computer, communication and customer service skills.
  • Solid understanding of networking concepts and Microsoft products. Certification is preferred.
  • Advanced troubleshooting skills with PCs, software and peripherals.

Part-Time Tutor

Bethany is seeking a part-time tutor to facilitate tutoring services and academic enrichment to our residents. Prior experience in secondary teaching or as a classroom assistant is required. Candidates should have academic strength in all core content areas, especially Math and Science, and meet the following minimum requirements:

•Be at least 21 years of age

•Be able to certify fitness for duty by a physician no more than 30 days prior to employment and every two years thereafter

Seasonal Lifeguard

Bethany Children’s Home provides services to youth between the ages of 10 and 20 on our residential campus in Womelsdorf. We offer emergency shelter, short-term, residential, independent living and supervised independent living programs to families and youth in need of placement.

Bethany has immediate openings for seasonal lifeguards who work with our recreation staff for the 2017 season. Recreation staff plan and oversee indoor and outdoor activities for youth. Lifeguards work at our outdoor pool each day during the summer season.

Candidates must be available between May and August for a flexible schedule between 1:00 pm and 8:00 pm. Two part-time positions are available for 20 – 25 hours per week. Every other weekend availability is required.

• Must be at least 21 years of age.

• Lifesaving certification must be current or obtained by May 26, 2017.

• Experience in working with children in the recreation field, or a dependent/neglected population is preferred but not required.
