Bethany Children’s Home offers competitive wages and excellent benefits. Full-time employees are eligible to receive the following:

Minimum Requirements

To be eligible for employment at Bethany, candidates must meet the following minimum requirements:

  • Have at least a high school diploma or equivalent
  • Be at least 21 years of age
  • Be able to apply for and receive Child Abuse, State Police and FBI Fingerprinting Clearances
  • Be able to certify fitness for duty by a physician no more than 30 days prior to employment and every two years thereafter
  • Be able to comply with all physical training requirements
  • Have a valid drivers’ license with 3-year clear driving history

Weekend Houseparent Couples -  Sign-on Bonus!

Bethany has a need for married couples to be Weekend Houseparents. Weekend Houseparents work Friday through Monday, averaging 43 hours per week, and enjoy an excellent benefits package. In addition to the benefits for full-time employees as described above, Weekend Houseparent couples have a choice of an unfurnished off-campus apartment with all utilities paid or a higher hourly rate. A furnished, private on-campus apartment with all utilities and on-duty meals is provided to couples or individuals.

In addition to the minimum requirements described above, candidates should be mature, responsible individuals with a sense of mission to help children in need. We are offering a sign-on bonus of $5,000 (half after 90 days and the remainder is paid after successfully completing six months of services) to couples and an additional longevity bonus of $10,000 per couple after three (3) years of successful employment.

Flex Houseparent Couples –  Sign-on Bonus!

Bethany also has a need for married couples to be Flex Houseparents. Flex Houseparents work a full-time schedule, providing relief for either Weekday or Weekend Houseparents, and enjoy an excellent benefits package. In addition to the benefits for full-time employees as described above, Flex Houseparent couples receive an unfurnished, private apartment with all utilities paid.

In addition to the minimum requirements described above, candidates should be mature, responsible individuals with a sense of mission to help children in need. We are offering a sign-on bonus of $2,500 (half after 90 days and the remainder is paid after successfully completing six months of services) to couples and an additional longevity bonus of $5,000 per couple after three (3) years of successful employment.

Application Supplement – WE Relief HP

Cottage Supervisor and Cottage Support Staff – 2nd or 3rd shift

Bethany has immediate openings for full-time positions working directly with teenage youth. Our Support Staff are responsible for providing therapeutic guidance, supervision and compassion while assisting our adolescents with emotional and behavioral interventions in a variety of settings. Support Staff work with the treatment team to help our youth achieve their treatment plan goals. Cottage Supervisors provide guidance, modeling, and opportunities for skills development in the cottage.

Full-time positions for Cottage Support Staff are available between the hours of 2:30 pm and 10:30 pm and 10:30 pm to 6:30 am. Cottage Supervisors work 11:00 am to 7:00 pm, Monday through Wednesday, and 2:00 pm to 10:00 pm on Thursday/Friday or Saturday/Sunday. Rotating weekend availability is required.

If you’re experienced in working one-on-one with at-risk adolescents in a home-like environment, we would love to hear from you. Preferably, candidates have at least one year of experience working with adolescents in placement as a therapeutic support staff, BSC or similar role.

In addition to the basic requirements listed above, candidates for Cottage Supervisor must meet the minimum qualifications to be considered:

  • Previous supervisory experience; AND
    • A Bachelor’s degree in the behavioral sciences, human services or social services fields; AND
    • A minimum of one year of experience in child welfare, youth work, child care or related field;    OR
    • An Associate’s degree in the behavioral sciences, human services or social services fields; AND
    • A minimum of three years of experience in child welfare, youth work, child care or related field.

Part-Time Weekend Registered Nurse (BSN)

Bethany is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Registered Nurse to assist in the day-to-day operations of a busy health clinic. This position offers a combination of clinic work, school nursing and case management within a residential facility. Candidates must be available to work 16-hours per week, including every other Saturday and Sunday. This position is offered as a permanent assignment beginning as soon as possible. Previous pediatric or behavioral health experience is preferred, and excellent communication skills are a must.

Seasonal Lifeguards

Bethany has immediate openings for seasonal lifeguards who work with our recreation staff for the 2018 season. Lifeguards provide youth and staff with the opportunity to swim in our outdoor pool during the weekdays and weekends.  This is in conjunction with meeting Bethany’s standard of care and Therapeutic Crisis Intervention expectations. It is important to provide a safe environment for all to enjoy this area by upholding all standards of recognized Lifeguard Certification programs.  Lifeguards are also responsible for the daily upkeep and routine basic maintenance of the pool area.

Candidates must be available between June and August to work a flexible schedule between 11:00 am and 9:00 pm during the week, and every other weekend from 11:00 am to 4:00 pm. New hire orientation is a paid 3-week training process, which must be completed prior to June 1st.

If you have a passion for helping children in need we would love to hear from you. Candidates must meet the following minimum requirements:

  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Current lifeguard certification must be valid through September 1, 2018.
  • Experience in working with children in the recreation field, or a dependent/neglected population is preferred but not required.
  • Must have a valid Pennsylvania Driver’s License.
  • Must pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check.
  • Must have health assessment certified by a physician no more than 30 days prior to commencing employment.
  • Must be able to provide current PA Child Abuse, PA Criminal History and FBI Fingerprinting clearances.
