Spiritual Services

All youth have access to spiritual services on campus at Bausman Memorial Chapel, and places of worship off campus. Youth participate in a Spiritual Assessment at intake and Bethany strives to provide each youth with access to their preferred religious or spiritual affiliation.

Our chaplain holds worship services in our chapel, located on the campus of Bethany Children’s Home. According to Bethany’s History written by Rev. Ray S. Vandevere, in 1869 or 1870, Rev. Albright petitioned the Lebanon Classis of the Reformed Church for permission to organize a formal congregation in the Home. The permission was granted and on the following 21st day of July he confirmed a class of seventeen orphans and celebrated the first Communion Service with some thirty guests. Today, Bethany continues as a ministry of the United Church of Christ and maintains close partnerships with the Pennsylvania Southeast Conference, Penn Central Conference, and Penn Northeast Conference of the UCC.

To be fully inclusive Bethany recently completed an accessibility project with the help of local UCC churches and donors. A new driveway, parking spots, and ramp was installed at the back entry to the church.

UCC Conferences

Bethany Children’s Home is supported by the Pennsylvania Southeast Conference of the UCC, in addition to the Penn Northeast and Penn Central Conferences.
