Womelsdorf, PA —Richard Picciotto, New York Fire Department battalion commander and author of the New York Times bestseller, Last Man Down will be thekeynote speaker at Bethany Children’s Home Tribute to Our Friends Dinner, Thursday, May 1, at the Sheraton Reading Hotel, Wyomissing. Picciotto will tell the story of his narrow escape from death the day the World Trade Center collapsed.
After ordering his fellow firefighters to evacuate, Picciotto remained behind in the burning South tower intent on saving as many people as he could. When the building crashed to earth, entombing him for over four hours, he kept doing his job, using his radio to call for help for those around him even though he himself seemed hopelessly trapped. From the ashes of Ground Zero emerged the story of a man who many call a “true American hero.”
The evening kicks off at 5:30 PM with a reception offering a selection of appetizers, as well as a time to meet and greet friends and colleagues. A full-course dinner follows, along with musical performances by Bethany Soul Singers, and Picciotto’s presentation.
Tickets are $75 each. To make reservations and/or for information regarding advertising and sponsorship opportunities, call 610.589.3333 or e-mail rhudson@bethanyhome.org, return to our homepage and click reservations.
