Short-Term Intensive Treatment Program

The Short Term Intensive Treatment Program provides time limited (90 days) intensive residential services for children and youth unable to live with their own or a substitute family. The primary goal of the program is family reunification and it can also serve as a transition program. For some, it is a resource useful when making a transition from one setting to another. Others use it as the last step in a series of placements ultimately leading to their return to live with their own or substitute family.

General goals that apply to all children and youth accepted for service include growth in skills for living more happily with themselves and others, development of a positive self-esteem, acceptance of personal accountability, and fostering awareness and appreciation of other person's well being. The remediation of educational deficiencies and improvement of physical health and skills are also an important focus.

The profile of the youth served and the treatment modalities used are very similar to the Residential Treatment Program. Major differences are 12 mandatory family sessions (6 in-home, 6 on-campus), youth attend on-grounds school and increased frequency of other treatment services.
