A Message from President & CEO, Dr. Joseph Birli, LPC, NCC

As the Strategic Planning process can be a tedious one, I have to say that as Bethany has embarked on planning for the future of child welfare services, this strategic planning journey has been quite pleasant. That is primarily due to the expertise and guidance of Ms. Calyn Brewer, Senior Director of Innovation. Calyn engaged in this project with a true passion and drive. She exhibited enthusiasm that became contagious to all the committee members.

It has been a privilege to work with the Strategic Planning Committee. To work with such an involved group of so many diverse stakeholders to contribute to the future planning of Bethany Children’s Home has been a rewarding experience. Thank you to all that dedicated time and ideas for who Bethany will be in the future and how we will continue to live our mission of helping children heal from their trauma experiences. Your contributions have been valuable and will become part of the Bethany Legacy!

May this strategic plan be fluid and adjust with the child welfare trends and needs while observing the many world changes in policy, funding, and laws that are beyond our control. This plan will be a guide, but as with everything, “nothing is set in stone” and I thank the Strategic Planning Committee for recognizing this component in the current state of affairs throughout the child welfare system. Therefore, treat this plan as such and remember the many strategic plans that came before us since 1863 that have contributed to who we are today.
